This post will be updated as events occur, it represents the most current info discussed, if you see or hear of something not covered here, please email bainbridgerd@gmail.com so that we could pass them along here.
- New road complete from City Hall to just west of Huntington.
- Huntington culvert conflict complete.
active, hopefully that intersection will be cleaned up before bad weather. Huntington intersection, may or may not be restored, hopefully some temp pavement and clear edge lines will be marked.- Huntington (south of BB Rd) and N Huntington will be paved for winter (unclear if this is temp or perm). Unexpected/Unannounced road closures will occur at this intersection until work is complete.
- Drives will remain gravel and will be “maintained” through the winter. By “maintained” they mean that if the gravel erodes they’ll add new gravel and reroll it. It does NOT mean that gravel drives will be plowed.
- Drives to have temp asphalt where curb meets road, so car and plow can more easily enter gravel drive.
- Phase 1 East, Huntington to Liberty will get a temp asphalt surface now that the utility work is complete. Temp road on tree lawn in that area will hopefully be removed.
- The former law director ruled that liability for clearing snow from gravel drives rests with those that operate the snow blower or snow plow. He suggested that a temp hard surface be placed, but the contractor has already said that they and the county would NOT be doing that. The contractor further stated that they saw it as no problem, it’s no different than “living out in the country” (except that we don’t get the benefits of cheaper living).
- Culvert 13 (near Thornbury) appears to be on schedule to complete before winter. Portable Concrete Barriers (PCB) have been delivered to the site to replaced the removed guard rails.
- The Liberty/Solon/Chagrin River detour will continue to be used as the official detour for Culvert 10 (between Windy Hill and Creekside) when Culvert 13 is complete. Motorists will find Creekside/Windy Hill quicker and more convenient. This heavy traffic in a subdivision will no doubt bring an outcry from those there who don’t realize that ALL roads are open to ALL the public.
- Lane and road blockages will continue through the winter (Dec-Apr) as they complete underground utility work in Phase 2.
- The temp road will not be paved in Phase 2 until the utility work is complete in the spring of 2011. During the winter small unpaved “temp” roads may be made for MOT around work zones (up to temp esmt).
- Temp pavement has been staked at an offset from Huntington to Liberty, when the temp road will be paved there is unclear.
- Temp esmt was marked in advance of utility work for Phase 1 West but appears unlikely for Phase 2. Generally the temp esmt is about 5 feet beyond the const limit (white stake). Contractors estimate where the temp esmt is and have often exceeded it.
- Storage Phase 2 – you can expect your own great white wall of pipes as Phase 1 had to supply the construction crew along with the limited sight lines to add to your winter driving challenges.
- Contractor restoration for Phase 1 West won’t occur until Spring 2011 (or later given they are no longer bound by project phasing, see Lumped Phasing post).
- Mail box re-installation isn’t likely until contractor restoration is near completion, so we’ll have to deal with plows knocking over are bucket boxes spilling our mail into the new bike lanes.
- City restoration, please email info to bainbridgerd@gmail.com. Those of us who have been most active in this project and who are litigating the issues have been shut out of this program. We would appreciate your input on your experiences so that we could pass them along here. See “Restoration” post for why some of us could not participate, on advice of counsel.
